Japa is a Sanskrit word that is derived from the root word jap which means “to utter in a low voice, repeat internally, mutter”. In yoga, Japa is considered the practice of repeatedly chanting a beej mantra or specific affirmation to concentrate the mind. The uninterrupted concentration for a longer duration leads to meditation.
