Spend your vacation in India and learn Ajrakh Block Printing from Sarfraz. Sarfraz Khatri is a sixth-generation ajrakh block printing artist, a thirteen-step printing technique that has roots in ancient Indian culture. Sarfraz’s studio was founded by his father and uses over 800 teak blocks designed by his great-grandfather, creating textile designs that span from traditional to contemporary. He uses natural vegetable dyes that are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly, reviving the lost traditional techniques. His textiles are versatile, often made into saris, scarves, shawls and more. Expect to hear the musical sounds of azaan and encounter a number of friendly goats while drying fabrics on the roof!
