Vintage Circa 1930s Paper Dolls. There are 5 ladies, 5 girls and 1 baby, which are all thin cards, included in this lot. The dolls are in good condition with some wear. Also, included in this lot is an entire box of assorted paper clothing. Too many to photograph, however I took some photos to give you an idea of the paper clothing and condition. The clothing has the folded tabs to help place on a doll. There are a few pieces of paper clothing in this lot that would be for a larger doll, as shown in picture. (Larger doll not included in this lot).
The first manufactured paper doll was “Little Fanny”, produced by S&J Fuller, London, in 1810. In Europe, particularly France, the first paper dolls were popular since the mid-18th century. The oldest known paper doll card is hosted by Germanisches Nationalmuseum and was printed around 1650 in Southern Germany, showing two female figures with a number of dresses, pieces of headgear, hairstyles and accessories.
Measurements are:
Ladies 8" tall
Girls 5 1/2" tall
